Measuring Success: VSU Training Enhances Impact Assessment Packaging
In conjunction with its ongoing mission to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of extension initiatives and programs, the VSU Extension Office recently conducted a two-day training seminar on “Capacitating Extension Project Leaders on Impact Assessment Packaging” at the RDE Breakout Room 2 on August 28-29, 2025.
The purpose of the comprehensive training was to equip VSU’s extension project leaders with the skills necessary to evaluate the results of their activities, particularly those completed five years or more ago.
Serving as the resource speaker for the two-day event was Mr. Ian Dave Custodio, an instructor and researcher at the Department of Economics and the Visayas Socio-Economic Research and Data Analytics Center, who discussed a five-part crash course. The topics covered were: Introduction to Impact Evaluation, How to Conduct an Impact Evaluation, Key Concepts in Impact Evaluation, Fundamental Concepts of Impact Evaluation Methods, and the specific Parts of an Impact Evaluation Proposal. The set of lessons was designed to provide an extensive understanding of making a credible and useful impact evaluation.
The event is a component of ongoing efforts to review previous activities and produce insights that can drive the university’s future planning and policy orientation, and in order to promote a culture of accountability, constant improvement, and community empowerment within its extension programs and projects.
