Advanced Research & Innovation Center

The Advanced Research and Innovation Center (ARI Center) is an addition to the existing research centers of the Visayas State University. Established in 2019 and formally inaugurated on April 27, 2021, ARI Center started housing research on emerging technologies and is envisaged to further natural products research, omics research, health research, nanotechnology and material science, and computational biotechnology and bioinformatics research.

The ARI Center aims to provide infrastructure and facilities to researchers and scientists in creating fundamental discoveries, innovative research strategies, and their applications as bases for new high impact approaches to address global challenges. It’s goals include the following:

  • Serve as a hub of strategic significance for the development and delivery of cutting-edge research and technologies in numerous fields;
  • Produce highest caliber leaders in research and development;
  • Promote locally and internationally quality education that delivers and creates an interactive research and learning environment;
  • Generate entrepreneurship-driven research and develop strong interdisciplinary programs;
  • Generate knowledge and resource exchange through collaborations and partnerships with government, private, and international sources.

Research Thrust

  • Natural products innovation for agriculture, engineering and industry including but not limited to organic agriculture technologies, bioinoculants, natural fiber research and others.
  • Biotechnology applications of the university’s research agenda
  • New innovations for public health and wellness focusing on metabolic disorders and emerging diseases
  • Nanotechnology and material science research for agriculture, engineering, food, health, and manufacturing industries.
  • Database development for storing, retrieving, organizing, and analyzing biological and chemical data and the development of software tools to generate useful biological knowledge and technologies from indigenous materials.
