The National Coconut Research Center—Visayas (NCRC-V) is a premier research institution under Visayas State University. It pioneers sustainable and innovative coconut technologies tailored for the Visayas region. Established to uplift coconut-growing communities through research and development, NCRC-V also promotes rural enterprise development anchored in coconut-based systems. Dedicated to serving farmers and stakeholders in building a resilient coconut industry.
NCRC-V traces its roots back to December 1975, when it was founded as the Regional Coconut Research Center (RCRC) under Visca. On August 10, 2000, it was renamed to its current title to reflect its national research mandate. Since then, it has become a vital hub for coconut research and innovation in the Visayas. Notably, it developed the first self-pollinating and early-bearing makapuno hybrids in the Philippines. The Center continues to evolve with science-driven solutions for the coconut sector.
