VSU Tolosa’s FCJE Strengthens Community Crime Prevention

The Faculty of Criminal Justice Education (FCJE) of Visayas State University Tolosa, led by Dean Dr. Angelyn L. Noble, successfully conducted the training workshop titled “Strengthening Local Communities: Enhancing Barangay Council and Peacemakers for Effective Crime Prevention” on June 3, 2025, at the KOICA Conference Room, VSU Tolosa.

Organized through the FCJE Extension Coordinator, Ms. Kristia Catherine Q. Balmes, in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)–Tolosa, the first day of the workshop focused on the Fire Code of the Philippines, Fire Inspection Procedures, Fire Safety, and Hazard Identification. The sessions were facilitated by FCJE faculty and BFP Tolosa resource personnel.

SFO3 Leizl S. Ong, OIC Municipal Fire Marshal, expressed her support for the program and encouraged stronger community participation in fire safety initiatives. The college also extended its gratitude to VSU Tolosa Chancellor Dr. Quenstein D. Lauzon, Dr. June Rey A. Montajes, Director for Research, Extension, and Innovation, and Ms. Lovely L. Enfermo, Head for Extension, for their continued support in the college’s outreach programs.

The activity also featured esteemed speakers including Dr. Jessielyn M. Abordo, SFO1 Amelia K. Silvano, FO2 Clent S. Udtohan, and FO1 Jethro A. Murillo, who shared their expertise in fire prevention and public safety.

This initiative underscores FCJE’s commitment to community empowerment, inter-agency collaboration, and the promotion of public safety and crime prevention.
