Printed Pages as Practical Tools
The VSU Extension Office brought together the university’s extensionists, LGU representatives, and FITS Center staff for a two-day Techno Guide Packaging Workshop on December 10-11, shifting the focus from design alone to include dialogue – making sure farmers’ voices and local contexts shape every guide.
Dr. Ulderico B. Alviola led sessions on Techno Guide Production, Designing Visual Print Materials, and Crafting Key Messages. Meanwhile, Ms. Melinda P. Petalcorin of ATI-RTC 8 facilitated the workshop sessions and helped ground discussions in on-the-field realities from the perspective of the main implementers of the Techno Gabay Program in the region.
Ms. Ferlita Gonzales from LGU Matag-ob shared, “Bisan kita [agriculturists/extensionists] ang mo-hatag ug information sa farmer, I believe nga kita maka-kuha pud ta ug information gikan sa farmer.” She further added on the importance of localizing materials, which should be considered by LGUs.
Participants left the event with a renewed vision: that the best Techno Guides are co-created, clear, and grassroots-centered – tools that help farmers make informed, sustainable choices.
