VSU Isabel-DEI Hosts the 1st International Multidisciplinary Research Colloquium 2026

The Department of Industrial Engineering at VSU Isabel successfully held the 1st International Multidisciplinary Research Colloquium 2026 (IMRC 2026) on May 21-22, 2026. The two-day event brought together researchers, educators, professionals and students from institutions worldwide. With the theme “Synergy of Knowledge: Unifying Engineering, Sciences and Education towards Sustainable Development, the event capacitated the participants from different fields to work together, share research, and engage in global academic discussions.

The opening program featured welcome remarks from VSU-Isabel Chancellor Dr. Catherine L. Chan. Engr. Ana Marie R. De Asis acknowledged the participating institutions and introduced the keynote speaker, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Minh Tuan of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in Vietnam.The colloquium also featured presentations and discussions from invited speakers, including Dr. Jannet C. Bencure of Visayas State University, Philippines; Dr. Indradi Wijatmiko of Universitas Brawijaya, Indonesia; Dr. Van Le Thi Kieu of Van Hien University, Vietnam; Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Viduriati Sumin of Universiti Teknologi MARA Sabah Branch, Malaysia; Nengah Widya Utami of Primakara University, Indonesia; and Dr. Eva Hyna of the Agricultural University of Tirana and University Aleksandër Moisiu Durrës, Albania.

Research presentation sessions were conducted throughout the two-day event, allowing participants to present their studies, exchange ideas, and discuss developments across engineering, science, and education.

The successful staging of IMRC 2026 was made possible through the efforts of the organizing committee led by Mr. Cleford L. Onde, together with third-year Industrial Engineering students who managed the event’s preparations and operations.

The organizing committee expressed its gratitude to the speakers, presenters, participants, faculty members, student volunteers, partner institutions, and other stakeholders for contributing to the success of the inaugural international research colloquium.

The activity aims to strengthen academic partnerships, encourage interdisciplinary research, and promote innovative solutions that support sustainable development.
