The National Coconut Research Center–Visayas (NCRC-V) presented the accomplishments of its Income-Generating Projects (IGPs) during the 2026 IGP Semi-Annual Review, furthering the Center’s work on developing coconut products and enterprise.

The review was an opportunity for the organization to present the accomplishments, activities, and developments of its four major IGPs, serving as a venue to evaluate the implementation of the project and plan for its subsequent steps and improvements.

Mr. Jeremias Vestra presented the accomplishments of the Buko and Coconut Seedlings IGP, where the center’s initiatives involve coconut propagation and production. Engr. Mencius Lesidan then discussed the progress report of the Coco Non-Food (Copra) IGP, which involves exploring the maximum potential of the copra.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jovannemar Anire presented the accomplishments of the Makapuno IGP, which is focused on the promotion of makapuno production and its potential as a venture. Finally, Dr. Marisel A. Leorna, NCRC-V Director, gave an overview of the Coco Food IGP accomplishments, which involve the development of coconut-based food products and the maximization of its potential as a value–added product.

The semi-annual review was a chance for the organization to evaluate the progress of the NCRC-V’s IGP in the first half of the year while ensuring close coordination between its project members. The event was deemed necessary to reinforce the significance of research-informed enterprise development, with the Center’s commitment to bring innovative ideas and practical applications to the field.

With its varied IGP initiatives, the NCRC-V is able to maximize the potential of coconut products and ventures. The organization is well-positioned to support the development of the coconut industry through product development and enterprise assistance, in line with VSU’s role and vision in research, extension, and innovation.
